The Hospital Authority (HA)

The HA is a statutory body responsible for managing the entire public healthcare delivery system in Hong Kong. The HA employs about 53,000 staff, has an operating budget of US$3.9 bil and currently manages a Head Office, 41 public hospitals / institutions, 48 specialist outpatient clinics and 75 eneral outpatient clinics.

The Position
The Chief Manager of Nursing is the professional leader of the HA largest workforce (around 22,000) and as such the incumbent will need to have a demonstrated track record in team leadership and the skills in influencing, decision making and critical reasoning.The Chief Manager of Nursing will be the voice of nursing both internally and externally and will lead the future development of the profession to ensure nursing careers and care stay at the forefront healthcare delivery in Hong Kong.

The incumbent will provide leadership to develop policy, formulate strategies and drive the implementation of programs to improve and enhance the quality of the nursing profession and service delivery. He/she will lead changes, where necessary, to align with new service models to achieve efficiency and attainment of global best practices.

The Ideal Candidate Profile
At least 10 years of proven experience in senior nursing and healthcare management position. Good knowledge of the operation of public hospital system in Hong Kong and/or overseas. Exceptional leadership qualities as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Creative and innovative, calculated risk-taking style of problem solving supplemented by an extraordinary ability to think beyond the normal. Forward looking trategic thinker. Ability to operate as an advocate for nurses whilst being a management leader. Exceptional communication skills (written and oral) in English and preferably in Chinese. Relevant tertiary education and a professional qualification in nursing and healthcare management, at a minimum of masters level.
